Aloha I’m Jessica!

For the past thirteen years, I have taught English Literature at King Kekaulike High School. In that time, I’ve taught and mentored over 1,500 students. Now, I’m excited to offer private tutoring because I see a real need for more support in writing, reading, and higher-level thinking across homeschool, online, private, and public school communities.

I started teaching because I love English — but even more because I love working with students. Watching someone finally "get" a tough concept or find the confidence to speak their mind is so fulfilling-- for them and for me!

Here’s what I offer:

• Help with understanding and analyzing literature (even the tough stuff!)

• Support with writing all kinds of essays — including college application essays

• Organization and time management strategies to stay on top of schoolwork

• Building independent learning skills

• Strengthening critical thinking and clear communication

• Finding joy in reading (yes, even if you think you don’t like it yet!)

My goal is for students to feel confident, capable, and excited about learning. After working with me, my students grow into independent, critical thinkers who are ready to tackle big ideas and challenges.

I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching and a Master’s degree in English Literature. I’ve spent most of my career teaching Juniors, Seniors, and AP Literature students, but I love working with students of all levels.
